Reading Term 4

WALT: listen to a novel and reflect on the story as we think about the characters, setting, plot and the author's purpose.

One of the activities I have done for hatchet was this, we had to draw cover pages in our reading book
These were the original cover pages. We used the app workspace, as you can see above.

P.E Athletics

WALT: develop fundamental skills required for athletics

WILF: - Correct technique for throwing the discus and shotput
Correct technique for long jump and high jump
Passing the baton accurately in relay sprints

I am proud of myself for giving it a go even though I'm not a sporty kind of person, and because I pulled a muscle in my rib and still did some activities.

It was a challenge for me to throw the shot-put but I tried my best and I got past the second line.

My next step is to keep practicing shot-put and try my best to get past the third line.

Next year I would like to be able to do all activities without fail, to do this I will have to practise and practise and practise.

My best event was long jump because even though I had a sore rib, I tried and I did really well.

WALT: develop the skills or batting, bowling, throwing, and fielding in cricket

WILF:
- overarm throwing when fielding
- catching with hands held like a basket
- straight arm bowling
- eyes on the ball and move the bat all the way through when batting

The skill I am best at is catching with hands like a basket because I have got the hang of it. My next step is to improve my straight arm bowling.

Excellence WordPack

WALT:  display excellence in all that we do
WILF: has been 'me' displaying 'my best, a can do attitude' in different situations, environments and in my learning.

Next Step:  I believe I still need to work on showing excellence in my maths I will do my best to do this in 2017.

Camp Thankyou letter to Chris

Chris,
Clive School
57 School Rd
Clive 4102

24th November 2016

Dear Chris,
I am writing to you because I want to say thank you for helping not only me, but helping everyone else around you. You have left your home, family and gave up your time and work to come and be a part of camp so thank you so much, (although when we played lollies or the bag, you should've gave the lollies to me).

I loved every single part of camp, but the best highlight at camp, and what activity I loved the most was rafting. I was super scared at the beginning and didn't know if I would like it or not, but then I overcame my fear, jumped in the raft, and off we went into the shallow, refreshing water. Even though it rained a little bit, I still LOVED it!

The most challenging part of camp for me was certainly NOT the mud run at all even though it is quite hard, it wasn't challenging because I was with you, in your group. I liked it in the other groups as well, (but don't tell, I loved it in your group the most because you helped me soooooo much). If I really had to choose one challenging activity it would have to be orienteering because sadly, you weren't in my group helping everyone so wonderfully like you always do. But Mark Fowler was still great (not as great as you though) :)

My second highlight of camp was of course the mud run, not only cause of your awesome help we came first, but because I don't really get to play and run around in mud very often! The mud run was AWESOME!! My favourite part of the mud run was the big mudslide, that was even more AWESOME!

I packed rain coats, wind breakers, thermals, warm as clothes and I didn't even wear them because of the great weather we had! Luckily I still packed shorts and t-shirts. Man, wasn't the weather just wonderful? (That was also a great part of camp!!)

Anyway, all I wanted to say was… THANKYOU!!!!!!

Sincerely yours, Sophie Beale

On Monday 19th of September, the Kapa Haka group performed at a festival at Bay City. We performed for 15 minutes and blew EVERYONE away. I felt nervous when we first walked out on stage but then I realised it wasn't so bad. I loved it, it was such a GREAT experience and so many memories happened, it was AWESOME!

Bored Show Not Tell Story Term 3

                                         Bored

My cousin Lily and I drooped ourselves down on the couch. My mum suggested EVERYTHING you could think of but we just shook our heads. “Why don't you girls do some drawing?” My Aunty asked. “NO!” Lily and I yelled at the same time. “What about hopscotch? It's a beautiful day outside” My mum suggested. We shook our heads once again. “Why don't you girls go ride the horses!” My aunty suggested. “We rode the horses this morning!” I said drearily. “Yeah! We have already done that!” Lily yelled. “How about the trampoline?” My mum suggested again. “Uh-ah” I said.
“C’mon girls stop being pathetic!” Aunty said with a tone of anger. It was the most wearisome time of my life!

My Show Not Tell Story About Happiness For Term 3

One day I was playing outside with my friends. We played netball, hide & seek then we played Chinese whispers, and that's when it hit me. I was imagining all sorts of things; Strange things like this (be warned you may laugh your head off). I imagined Mr Wallace wearing skinny jeans! I told Novah and Tyler about that very hilarious thing. We all started cracking up laughing.
“Sophie, your imagination is very, very, VERY crazy!” crackled Tyler.
“But super funny!” Laughed Novah. “Hahahaha” we all laughed like crazy!

My Show Not Tell Story About Anger For Writing WS Term 3

Sophia was sitting on the couch watching T.V minding her own business, then her brother Jacob came stomping in rather angrily.
“Why did you do that to me!” Jacob yelled nearly tearing Sophia’s ears off.
 “Did what?” Sophia asked.
“You know what you did! You deleted my racing car game on the IPad!” Screamed Jacob.
“What? No I didn't! I didn't even touch your game! Anyways, I haven't even been on the iPad in like, forever” Sophia said instantly.
“Don't lie! I know you deleted my game! I'm telling mum on you!”.
Sophia sat back down on the couch and wondered who had deleted Jacob’s app. “SOPHIA!” Her mum yelled from upstairs.

MY BIRTHDAY PARTY!🎉🎈🎀🎁🛍🎊

In the school holidays it was my 10th birthday! At first, my friends got dropped off at my house on the 15th of July, and then that night we had a sleepover. In the morning we had pancakes and went out, that was on the 16th of July (my real birthday). I had 3 other girls over, it was the time of my life.

Us 4 girls, Novah, Tyler, Nicole and I, had pancakes for breakfast. They smelt sooo good, we got to decorate them with pretty much all the toppings you could think of. There was whipped cream, lemon, sugar, icing sugar, sprinkles and more! It looked super yum! Finally we got to eat them... "DELICIOUS!" I yelled.

After the pancakes that morning, we had to get all glamed up (without makeup). The thing was though, we never knew what we were doing...Until we arrived. WE WERE AT THE MAKEUP SHOP! Tyler, Novah, Nicole and I, got our makeup done by professionals, and then we got to have a photo-shoot on the red carpet. I LOVED IT!

Tense writing

In room 7 we have been doing tense writing in our writing workshops such as past, present and future tense here is a sheet of different tense sentences. Past tense is very important in writing recounts.
